My name is Marina Schilling. I live and manage my cottage craft business here in Bunbury.
It is from my mother who is of the Lotha/Kyong tribe of Nagaland in northeast India and her weaving heritage that I’ve had the opportunity to learn the ancient craft of back-strap loom weaving.
Through market stalls, I make available my handwoven scarves with local handspun merino & alpaca wool, natural olive oil soaps, olive oil lotions & balms, natural timber wax, coptic stitched handmade books, pure beeswax candles, hot chili sauces & condiments and my own traditional blend of Assam & Darjeeling Tea.
I also collaborate with local producers and craftspeople and make available items that are lovingly & truly South-West made.
I welcome wholesale enquiries and custom orders.
Using local raw materials, valuing age-old crafting practices, techniques and small-scale production, hand-spinning and weaving wool & silk, practicing the art and craft of natural, eco-friendly dyeing using plant materials and processes, showcasing the handmade and beautiful….
These along with the philosophy of the “slow craft movement” encapsulate handmade-and-marina.
I attend the following markets in and around Bunbury, WA.
Busselton Foreshore Markets (3rd & 5th Sunday/8am-12 noon)
Vasse Market (1st, 3rd Saturday/ 7.30am – 12 noon)
Boyanup Farmers Market (4th Sunday/8am-12noon)
